Collegedale, Tennessee, home of Southern Adventist University, has a population that is approximately half SDA. The town recently became the first in Tennessee to extend health benefits to those with same-sex spouses.

One of those SDAs voting in favor of the measure used this logic to support his case:
“What the Lord wants you to be is just, merciful, and humble. That’s my goal,” he said. “Why penalize someone when they’re born a certain way? … These people suffer enough, just give them a break.”
This is the fruit of preaching love, love, love, until love has no more meaning, so people can feel comfortable in a life of sin in direct opposition to God.

What does the pastor of the Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist church have to say about this abomination?
Wolf Jedamski, church administrator and pastor of global mission at Collegedale Church of Seventh-day Adventists, said that only about three congregants of the 3,000-member-plus congregation have called him worried about the issue.
“Some members see this as a homosexual issue or a marriage issue. The church sees this as a city issue, and we are not going to get involved in it,” Jedamski said. “It’s not really true anymore that the city of Collegedale is a city of Seventh-day Adventists. It’s grown much more diverse, and that’s a good thing.”

summer trip bicycling around awaji island
Sitting in front of this computer basically all the time i’m not teaching is not a good way to live, and wanting to test myself to see if i still have what it takes to “just go”, i did a couple of hours of research on the net, then filled my backpack, and took off for Awaji Island on my trusty steed – a normal “mama chari” (called so because it is what mamas use to go shopping with, having a big basket in the front and a bell that goes “chari chari”. 🙂

From my house to the ferry in Akashi is 70km, then 155 around the island, then 70 back, so altogether, i went around 300km (186 miles). I checked the map to Akashi, and wrote down some notes, but within 30 minutes i had already missed my first turn, so just kept going in the general direction i thot would take me there. Umeda was reached in 1:10, and Kobe in 3:30, and the ferry in Akashi in 5:45. I have no idea why coming back it only took 1:40 to Kobe, and then a long 5:30 from there back to the house. Of course the darkness did make me slow down quite a bit…
Some of the highlights as i remember them: There were lots of up-downs going next to the Dai-ni-Keihan Expressway, but the bicycle path is great. After that, it was just sidewalks with occasional sneaks onto the main road all the way to Akashi. Most pro-type cyclists just go with the traffic, as they go much faster than i do anyway, so they don’t have problems like i experienced several times where the sidewalk ends and you are left with the choice of trying to cross a big intersection with the traffic, or else pushing your bike up and over (or under) a bridge to get to the other side.
And it was hot; 35C (95F) in the shade, and of course i was out in the sunshine, but at least the breeze created helped keep the sweat from blinding me.

seventh-day adventists and other churches
This is regarding the article titled “Seventh-day Adventists and Other Churches” in the June 20, 2013 Review. “article”
While it is customary to see officials in the Seventh-day Adventist church promote a watering down of the Three Angels Messages, it is still troubling to see it done with such disregard for historical facts.
For example, Ellen White did work with the Temperance movement. However, representatives from that movement did not come into our SDA churches and hold worship meetings with us. This is in stark contrast to what is happening now. In “Adventists and Lutherans in Conversation” which reports on the dialogues held between SDAs and LWFs in the 1994-1998 time frame, it says: “By spending many hours together in listening and seeking to understand, in agreeing and disagreeing, in eating and especially praying, we experienced the bonding of the Spirit under our one Lord Jesus Christ.” Also, “for the past 43 years the key person in the CWC has been a Seventh-day Adventist.” The Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions reports several instances of SDAs worshipping with and even sponsoring their programs.
Author William Johnsson makes a statement that is one of the current “mantras” among modern-day leaders and members of the SDA church in rich countries: “On the other hand, we Adventists do not seek to be an exclusive church that shuns relations with other Christian bodies.”
We despise the word “exclusive”, and are constantly promoting the word “inclusive”. No more of that original hymnal put out by James White titled “Hymns for God’s peculiar people,: That keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus”. Now we want to be just like the other churches, no, just like the world as much as possible, so that no one can tell us apart, so we don’t suffer any embarrassment or feeling of “being different”.
I wonder if we will feel embarrassment when Jesus looks deep into our hearts and announces our eternal destiny?
To join with those not of our faith to promote the good of society is one thing, but to extrapolate that to mean that it is then OK to worship with them is entirely different.
2Cor 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

sonoluminescence and God’s words
God’s words are very powerful, as every Christian knows and attests to. Many Christians today tho, believe that it is OK to change God’s words around to suit the circumstances. Even in the Seventh-day Adventist church, which makes so much of keeping parts of the Bible, other parts are not seen as necessary, and the inspiration of the Bible is held in doubt by nearly 100% of the “scholars” in the church including the “conservatives”.
I believe all the words in the Bible are from God, and that we change even one of them at our peril. God did not just give the ideas to the prophets and they wrote the best they could, but that they were inspired by the Holy Ghost and wrote down the actual words of God.
Deuteronomy 18:18-19 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require [it] of him.
And of course this famous passage of which Jesus quoted from when tempted by the Devil to turn stones into bread: Deut 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every [word] that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
What does this have to do with sonoluminescence? Actually, what IS sono……? “Sonoluminescence occurs when a sound wave of sufficient intensity induces a gaseous cavity within a liquid to collapse”. So what, you say? Well, what happens when that “bubble” collapses is awesome. The effect has been nicknamed “star in a jar” by some, because when the conditions are right, the bubble glows with an intense light. Some people think that fusion may even be occurring, as it looks like the temperatures on the surface of this bubble are millions of degrees.

Rusi Taleyarkhan is a scientist who claims to have observed fusion by this method, but his work has not been replicated elsewhere.
What is exciting to think about from a believer in the power of God’s words, is how God made this world and upholds it. The Bible consistently says he “spoke” and it was “done”. So perhaps this is a small scientific explanation of how that works. I have seen other videos where scientists surmise that perhaps God’s words are so powerful, that they can physically create the lattice-work for all material from nothing, for real. Of course i believe God did make everything from nothing by speaking, but have never considered how that could be accounted for from a human understanding of science until now. So this is pretty exciting to me.
Ezekiel 12:25 For I [am] the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD.
Let’s follow all of God’s words and consider the power they have, and be looking forward to and hastening the day of their fulfillment./font>

There are many things said to affect length of life. Some studies that have come out recently show that restricting caloric intake can lengthen life: low calorie diet Also, Seventh-day Adventists were featured in a comprehensive study recently, showing the vegetarians tend to live longer, and the more vegetarian you are, the longer you tend to live: Adventist Health Studies Fast walkers tend to live longer too: walking speed effects Living in a “rich” country tends to help, and having faith has been shown to statistically increase longevity: faith matters in longevity.
However, there are some factors tending against me: Marrieds tend to live longer, people with pets tend to have longer lives, and people who have agricultural pursuits usually live longer.
But the secret to really long life is given clearly by Jesus in John 17:3 “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”

“You Knew!” new video of fireball dream God gave Ellen White in July 1904
On July 1, 1904, God gave Ellen White a dream about fireballs destroying houses, signaling his soon coming. Revelation 8:8 “And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; 9 And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. 10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;” I believe that this will happen in the future for a final fulfillment.

Last night a scene was presented before me. I may never feel free to reveal all of it, but I will reveal a little. It seemed that an immense ball of fire came down upon the world and crushed large houses. I heard some say, “We knew that the judgments of God were coming upon the earth, but we did not know they would come so soon.” Others said, “You knew! Why then did you not tell us? We did not know.” On every side I heard such words spoken.
From place to place the cry arose, “The Lord has come! The Lord has come!” Many were unprepared to meet Him, but a few were saying, “Praise the Lord!” “Why are you praising the Lord?” inquired those upon whom was coming sudden destruction.
“Because we now see what we have been looking for.”
“If you believed that these things were coming, why did you not tell us?” was the terrible response. “We did not know about these things. Why did you leave us in ignorance? Again and again you have seen us; why did you not become acquainted with us and tell us of the judgment to come, and that we must serve God, lest we perish? Now we are lost!”….
May God help us to stand, like Daniel, in our lot and place during the days of probation that remain. Parents, teach your children regarding the things that are coming upon the earth and lead them to prepare to meet their Lord in peace

I remember when young about a quote from Ellen White where she saw balls of fire over New York City, Chicago, and San Francisco. But i cannot find that quote now. If anybody knows about it, please tell me.

Praise God that his words are being spread around the world, altho it is much more slowly than i would like.
May many of the 38,000,000 speakers of this language (60% literacy rate), mostly based in Karnataka, India (Bangalore), find this book, and may the Holy Spirit work on their hearts to help them prepare for the soon-coming TIme of Trouble, and save them at last eternally safe in his kingdom is my prayer.
If anyone can translate into other languages like Chinese, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Malayalam etc., please let me know.
what about marriage?
What does God have to say regarding marriage? I’m very aware that much has been written on this subject by writers over the centuries, but have seen very little that is true to inspired words. Most of what passes for marriage counseling is what to look for in a mate, not questioning if it is even God’s will to look for a mate at all.
It was God’s original plan for a man and woman to be together as a unit. Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” Verse 24: “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”
There are many rules regarding sexuality and marriage relations in the Old Testament, given by a loving God to help the beings created in his image to be most happy. Nearly everything in the OT assumes that a man and woman will get married, and attempt to have children.
Then in the New Testament, Jesus gives some definite advice on this question in Matthew 19:10-12 “His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with [his] wife, it is not good to marry. But he said unto them, All [men] cannot receive this saying, save [they] to whom it is given. For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from [their] mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive [it], let him receive [it].” He shows that whoever can receive the instruction to not marry should receive it and not marry.
The Holy Spirit shows thru Paul in 1Corinthians 7:1-3 “Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.” Verses 7-9 “For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.” Verses 27-28 “Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.”
It is clear beyond a doubt that it is best not to marry, but it is not a sin to marry. If anyone says it is a sin to marry, you can be sure that they are not led of God. 1Timothy 4:1-3 “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry,…”

If Paul could remain single, and recommend the same to others, that he and they might be wholly the Lord’s, why not those who would be wholly his, and wish to make a sure thing of avoiding the cares, trials, and bitter anguish, so frequent in the experiences of those who choose the married life, remain as he was? And more, if he chose to remain so, and could recommend it to others, eighteen centuries since, would not to remain as he was, be a commendable course for those who are waiting for the coming of the Son of man, unless evidences were unquestionable that they were bettering their condition, and making Heaven more sure by so doing? When so much is at stake, why not be on the sure side everytime? James White, Ellen G. White.

“Many of the marriages contracted in these last days prove to be a mistake. The parties make no advancement in spiritual things; their growth and usefulness ended with their marriage. There are men and women throughout the country who would have been accepted as laborers together with God if Satan had not laid his snares to entangle their minds and hearts in courtship and marriage. Did the Lord urge them to obtain the advantages of our schools and missions, that they might sink everything in courtship and marriage, binding themselves by a human band for a lifetime? By accepting the work of rearing children in these last days of uncertainty and peril, many place themselves in a position where they cannot labor either in the canvassing field or in any other branch of the cause of God, and some lose all interest to do this. They are content with a common, low level, and assimilate to the position they have chosen. The bewitching power of Satan’s deceptions wrought within the human heart its evil work. Instead of candidly considering the time in which we live, and the work they might do in leading others to the truth, they reason from a selfish standpoint, and follow the impulse of their own unconsecrated hearts. “The flesh lusteth against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh.” The natural appetites and passions become a controlling power, and the result is that spiritual growth ceases; the soul is, as it were, paralyzed.

So we see that the writings of Ellen White agree with the Bible instruction that it is best not to marry, as marriage often proves more of a hindrance on the narrow path to heaven than a help.

I just put up a video i made on youtube. It was originally a powerpoint presentation made by Br. Franklin Fowler. The subject is how the selection of the next pope may show us exactly where we are in the stream of prophecy. Of course it all hinges on the interpretation that the list of 5 kings fallen, one is, and one is yet to come, and then the 8th who is of the 7 — all started at the signing of the Lateran Treaty in 1929. If that assumption is incorrect, then this study is incorrect too. But if it is true, then this study looks to be the most Biblically and SOP based study on end-time events anywhere in the world today, and we are headed quickly into the final days of this earth’s history.
May we be good Bereans to see if these things are so.
“The Gospel” sermon video by Eric Ludy
This sermon of just over 11 minutes gives the gospel so succinctly, and so straight, it makes me wonder why God’s remnant people can’t have the gospel preached so powerfully among them? Fellow Seventh-day Adventists, are we so bound up with programs and church work and fearing man rather than God that we are afraid to hear the gospel spoken to us straight?
I’m afraid that chapter 33 of the original Great Controversy book (The Sins of Babylon) is very true even among us:
I saw the state of the different churches since the second angel proclaimed their fall. They have been growing more and more corrupt; yet they bear the name of being Christ’s followers. It is impossible to distinguish them from the world. Their ministers take their text from the Word, but preach smooth things. The natural heart feels no objection to this. It is only the spirit and power of the truth, and the salvation of Christ, that is hateful to the carnal heart. There is nothing in the popular ministry that stirs the wrath of Satan, makes the sinner tremble, or applies to the heart and conscience the fearful realities of a judgment soon to come. Wicked men are generally pleased with a form without true godliness, and they will aid and support such a religion. Said the angel, Nothing less than the whole armor of righteousness can overcome, and retain the victory over the powers of darkness. Satan has taken full possession of the churches as a body. The sayings and doings of men are dwelt upon instead of the plain cutting truths of the word of God. Said the angel, The friendship and spirit of the world are at enmity with God. When truth in its simplicity and strength, as it is in Jesus, is brought to bear against the spirit of the world, it awakens the spirit of persecution at once. Many, very many, who profess to be christians, have not known God. The character of the natural heart has not been changed, and the carnal mind remains at enmity with God. They are Satan’s own faithful servants, notwithstanding they have assumed another name.
I highly recommend this short sermon video, and if you can watch the whole thing without crying, you are definitely made out of different stuff than i am.

one of us initiative in europe to save unborn
There is a new organization in Europe with the goal of protecting the unborn by juridicial means at the EU level. Called “One of Us”, this is being called the strongest push yet for protection of the unborn within the EU. If they can get 1,000,000 signatures, the EU parliament will be forced to take up the issue and debate on it.
Surprisingly, even the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s (which carries out abortions in its hospitals) flagship mouthpiece – Adventist Review, has even published a piece about this new initiative in a neutral – positive light. The title is: “Europeans Launch Campaign to Recognize Life at Conception”.
Perhaps the time has come for us to repent of our great sin and take the moral high ground back instead of ceding it all to the Roman Catholic Church?

Recently a British couple were told their baby would be born with severe defects, but they decided to have him anyway.
Couldn’t abort after seeing 3d scan of baby
Quoting:
A three-month scan seemed fine, but a 20-week scan revealed complications. After further tests, doctors dropped the bombshell that their baby’s brain had not formed properly — and he would be born severely disabled.
The couple, from Telford, Shrops, were warned by experts at Birmingham Children’s Hospital their child would never walk or talk and would need 24-hour care.
But the amazing real-time moving 3D test scans had shown Lucian smiling, blowing bubbles, kicking and waving his arms.
Training administrator Katyia said: “Despite all the awful things I was being told, while he was inside me his quality of life looked to be wonderful — he was a joy to watch.
“It was my duty as a mother to protect that no matter how long he had left. He deserved to live.”
