more adventist muslim mush called advent interfaith initiative

I heard a while back that there was one man in the Michigan conference, from Australia, who was giving the straight gospel truth to the Muslims, and having success at bringing them to Christ. Well, today i finally tracked down who it is, and watched a seminar given by him (Rodney MacCullum) and an associate (Sam Bonello) and one other helper (Jared Thomas). Here is the video of the event held at the ASI conference in 2009: http://asiconvention2009.s3.amazonaws.com/track_001_bonello_lo.mp4

Sad to say, there were many points of concern, and i cannot recommend this organization: “Advent Interfaith Initiative” to anyone. While not being quite as pro Islam as Jerald Whitehouse and Stephen Dickie, there is still a lot of falsehood being passed off as truth. The most fundamental problem which i’ve seen with all these Adventist-Muslim people, is that they believe the Qur’an is a holy book, and that the god of that book is the same God that Christians worship. So with a platform based on the same teachings, it is no wonder that their teachings have many commonalities, because they don’t give the straight truth as it is in Jesus Christ.

They also have a website called People of the Book publications: http://pobproductions.com/ The same thing is seen there as in their speeches. That is, the Qur’an is upheld, and Allah is synonymous with the true God, both of which are very much against true Christianity.

God is not mocked. Just because the Qur’an professes to believe the God of Abraham does not make it so. The Qur’an is emphatic that God has no son, but the Bible is emphatic that God has a son. This is clear enough that anyone willing to, can see that the Qur’an is not from God, and consequently, the god of the Qur’an is not the same as the God of the Abraham, because Abraham worshiped the true God, the one who has a son.

I do agree with their teaching that we should show love to the Muslims. Many of them are much more sincere and searching for truth than we Seventh-day Adventist Christians are. Would Jesus shun them? Of course not, he would try his best to reach them where they were, and, here is the important difference between what we should really be doing as Christians, and what the Adventist-Muslim people are doing – is that we should be lifting up Jesus as the Son of God, the Saviour of the world.

The Qur’an, in referring to Isa, (which is claimed to be Jesus, but is not the true Jesus), says regarding Isa: Sura 43:59 He is nothing but a slave on whom We bestowed favour, and We made him a pattern for the Children of Israel.

But the Bible says: John 14:6 Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.

Pretty clear here about how much the Qur’an really values the Son of God – nothing but a slave. In contrast, Jesus calls himself the way, the truth, and the life. Notice that there is no other way to God – either you go thru Jesus, or you just don’t get to God at all. This basic pillar of Christianity has been overlooked for far too long in the name of “all you need is love”.

Rodney MacCullum says in the video:

“I thank the Muslims, because if not for them, there would have been no Reformation.”

“Please don’t tell me that Allah means something other than “God”.”

He gave a talk in a mosque with Stephen Dickie.

He reads from the Qur’an in a favorable light.

“Islam is just like ourselves, they want peace. Bless them….”

He talks about calling himself a “Seventh-day Adventist”, but says nothing about being a Christian. The next speaker explains why.

The Story of Our Health Message (Seventh-day Adventist) D.E. Robinson (1943)

The Story of Our Health Message, The Origin, Character, and Development of Health Education in the Seventh-day Adventist Church By Dores Eugene Robinson (1943)

This book is now available on this web site, perhaps for the first time ever on the internet, at both
great-controversy-movie.com/blog/books/the-story-of-our-health-message.pdf
and under the “good books” section at the top of this web site.

Note: This is not a review. I’m just trying to make this book available to more people as it looks to be of great value to all who are interested in the health work.

What made me put this book on the web is a email promoting this book by someone involved in the medical missionary work. Part of that email is as follows:
———
“In the classroom we’re currently giving study to the history of the Seventh-day Adventist health message. A valuable resource in class preparation has been D.E. Robinson’s book entitled The Story of Our Health Message. Here is a statement from the book’s Preface: In Mrs. E. G. White’s will, dated February 12, 1912, provision was made regarding certain “proposed books,” which she greatly desired to be prepared. Among these was a historical work listed as “Experience of Ellen G. White in Connection With the Health Reform Movement Among Seventh-day Adventists.” After her death the trustees appointed by her gave early consideration to the matter of preparing such a book. Clarence C. Crisler, a trusted secretary long connected with Mrs. White’s office, was asked to undertake the task. But soon after making a beginning he was called to duties in the Far East, and the enterprise was suspended. More recently the present writer [D. E. Robinson] was asked by the trustees of the Ellen G. White Publications to bring the work to completion.

“Robinson’s book presents an excellent historical account of our health message, from the turn of the nineteenth century onward. I think this book should be made available to every Seventh-day Adventist; however, the book has been out of print for many years. The Wildwood Health Retreat staff has been able to scan the book and it is now in Microsoft Word file format. If you would like a free copy please send me your email address and I’ll send it to you. I write this email in hopes of finding someone that might have the time and the skill to take my Word version and make it into a searchable, indexed PDF file. If you have an interest please contact me.

“The book is a precious part of our history; what a blessing it would be to make it available in a convenient, readable format.”
———
So i have done that, by putting this book up on the web. However, if doing so is infringing on any copyright or anything, please advise, and i will take it down.

(Update 2021) Several people have made comments asking me to send this book. Please notice that this offer was given in a email to me by someone who was working at Wildwood Health Retreat over 8 years ago. You can easily get the book for yourself in PDF format at the link at the top of this article.

May God bless as we learn more how to work as Jesus worked.

we’re all good, we should not judge each other, and morality is relative – NOT!

As Oprah Winfrey’s television show comes to a conclusion this week, USA Today is challenging the queen of daytime TV’s spirituality, quoting authors who say Oprah’s beliefs are “absolutely contrary to the true teaching of Scripture and historic Christianity.”

The report by Cathy Lynn Grossman opens by asking to whom will Oprah turn now that she’s leaving the TV talk circuit.

“God?” the report asks. “Not likely. Many Americans no longer believe in a mighty judge who sets the rules for life now and forever. Instead, many of us sing Oprah’s song of self-redemption.”

Oprah told Piers Morgan on the CNN host’s opening show: “I am the messenger to deliver the message of hope and redemption.”

USA Today says to a vast extent, American culture has bought the message: We’re all good, we should not judge each other and morality is relative.

O no! USA Today challenges Oprah on Jesus Christ

Sadly, this message has seeped deeply into God’s remnant Seventh-day Adventist church. The stark truth proclaimed by God’s messengers in the past, like Noah, Moses, Elijah, and John the Baptist to name a few, were primarily – Repent -. Even Jesus’ first preaching was about – Repent -. But today we are so much better than the humans living then, right? We don’t need repentance, right? There is no need for a strong message today, right?

There are special duties to be done, special reproofs to be given in this period of the earth’s history. The Lord will not leave His church without reproofs and warnings. Sins have become fashionable; but they are none the less aggravating in the sight of God. They are glossed over, palliated, and excused; the right hand of fellowship is given to the very men who are bringing in false theories and false sentiments, confusing the mind of the people of God, deadening their sensibilities as to what constitutes right principles.

Ellen White, Notebook Leaflets

The ministers preach smooth things to suit carnal professors. This is just as Satan would have it. They dare not preach JESUS and the cutting truths of the Bible; for if they should, these carnal professors would not hear them. Many of them are wealthy, and must be retained in the church, although they are no more fit to be there than Satan and his angels. The religion of JESUS is made to appear popular and honorable in the eyes of the world. The people are told that those who profess religion will be more honored by the world. Very widely do such teachings differ from the teachings of CHRIST. His doctrine and the world could not be at peace. Those who followed him had to renounce the world. These smooth things originated with Satan and his angels. They formed the plan, and nominal professors have carried it out. Hypocrites and sinners unite with the church. Pleasing fables are taught, and readily received. But if the truth should be preached in its purity, it would soon shut out hypocrites and sinners.

Ellen White, The Great Controversy Between Christ and His Angels, and Satan and His Angels

The Unnoticed Waymark by J. A. Hiebert review

The Unnoticed Waymark by J. A. Hiebert (1960?)
B
This booklet is an attempt to show that we will be able to: “recognize the time when the great supreme court of heaven will convene for the investigative judgment of the living professed people of God.” Mostly it is a compilation of inspired writings from the Bible and Ellen White’s books, with commentary by the author.

I believe the weight of evidence is on the side of what this author is trying to prove, ie: that God had a very remarkable, large movement to signal the beginning of the investigative judgment in heaven which started October 22, 1844, and that the change from the judgment of the righteous dead, to the righteous living, will also entail some remarkable event – namely, the bringing forth of the physical Ark of the Covenant.

Those who know me, know that i rarely get onto “obscure bandwagons”. Yes, i believed in goofy conspiracy theories for a while around 20 years ago, but have not gotten into many of the mini-prophecies which have swept the fringes of Adventism. So why am i interested in being “fringe” now? I’m not sure myself. Actually, i read some of these quotes around 25 years ago, and in this same context, but it wasn’t so methodical, so i just put it in my memory banks, and basically let it rot. Then, in February of 2009, in some fashion i found this booklet on the internet. Having studied much more of the prophecies in Daniel and Revelation in the last 15 years, it hit me hard this time that this might just play a large role indeed in end-time events. But for some reason, i only made some notes, and then let it sit in my computer for 2 years, with no mention to anyone hardly, except to put it in a directory for the search engines on the internet.

Then last month i read something by Br. Franklin Fowler, where he puts the bringing forth of the Ark of the Covenant into his view of an end-time timeline. It hit me with fresh force, and made me realize that i must do something with this knowledge, whether people think i’ve gone off the deep end, or not. look for newsletter April 11, 2011

Why only a “B” if i think this booklet is very important? Mainly because while the first half stays mostly on subject, the last half is mostly a plug for the author’s work, asking for others to help distribute this booklet, and gets sidetracked into meat eating etc. Also, there are lots of spelling/grammar errors, perhaps some of which tho, were introduced in scanning this into pdf format.

One of the most powerful quotes supporting his position, is this one from Review and Herald, dated 1909/01/28:

“When the judgment shall sit, and the books shall be opened, and every man shall be judged according to the things written in the books, then the tables of stone, hidden by God until that day, will be presented before the world as the standard of righteousness. Then men and women will see that the prerequisite of their salvation is obedience to the perfect law of God.”

Following are some quotes from the booklet, with some comments:

What to say…
I can’t believe it, the little kid is half a century old now. It just hit me a couple of months ago, how the length of my life compares with things – you know, the “longevity” charts of the Bible characters? Well, i’ve never, ever thot for even a second how my lifespan would look on such a chart. It was just, well, a chart of history. But when i realized recently that my little life would translate into a line almost half as long as Joseph’s, it really hit me.

What have i made of this life God has given me? What’s the point of it? I’ve used some of it to hurt my creator. I’ve used some of it to help people. Why have i wasted most of it? Will Jesus come back before i return to dust? Am i going to be able to live thru the Time of Trouble, and be one of the 144,000 who will never die? Will the gates of eternal life be opened for me, or do i have sins that need to be burned up in the lake of fire?

I’ve collected 5 pics, each representative of a 10-year period of my life.

Life was fun, as i remember it. Yes, there were awful times of parents screaming at each other, and i remember a Seventh-day Adventist pastor from the Madison, Tennessee church come our house when i was 3, and yell at my mother for studying the “Awakening”, after which my father tried to kill her and i, but life had many fun things – playing plastic ball, riding bicycles, then heading into the countryside at age 7 – oh, what a great time in nature! It was “normal” to me, but now i realize, it was a very special thing my parents did to help me develop a good character out of the city. My mother loved to study the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy, and i will always, always thank her for instilling a love of the truth in me.

super coolsuper cool
After around 2nd grade, i was always the runt, so had to make up for my shortness by being a clown. I loved to read, and made excellent grades in class, but i was also a cutup, having to write “I will be good in school” 500 times. Even there i “improvised”, by making the “L”s just 2 lines down the page. Growing up in the countryside, i had few friends come to play, so i became good friends with the chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, rabbits, cows etc. Yes, i had good friends, and see now how this period really set the stage for the rest of my life. Generally i prefer to be alone and study, make good friends (but no girl friends) have a problem following orders from other people when i don’t agree with them, like to keep on the move, enjoy pinching pennies, like writing better than talking, slow to catch on to new things, hopelessly lost when it comes to understanding emotions, clueless on how the world really works from man’s point of view with “tit-for-tat” and “backscratching” etc., and enjoy tackling difficult things. I remember, even now, that the ages of 10-12 or so were the best of my life – free without big responsibilities, and yet starting to get a brain that could think things thru. Lots of days were spent playing in the creeks, building houses, feeding chickens, playing baseball and football and card games etc.

The 20s was the decade of the biggest changes in my life. I graduated from the university with good grades, and got a job in Atlanta as a computer programmer. True to form, after 3 months i decided paying rent was a waste, and so, with the help of my brother and sister, i bot a house. Sure, my car was a heap as all the other college graduates who went out and bot new cars, but after 5 years, their new cars were heaps, and i had a worse heap, and a house that had appreciated in value. I was crazy to make money, spending lots of time poring over stock markets and futures, working nites and Sundays delivering pizza, and even buying a lawnmower to cut yards for extra income. Fortunately, the Lord led me to consider what to really do with my life, and i chucked it all to go to Japan to work in Country Life Restaurant Osaka, with a reduction in income of 90%. It was scary, without much income, and not knowing much of the language, even tho i had studied for over a year before going. It really drove me to the Bible.

Bible study with homeless friends in Osaka Bible study with homeless friends in osaka
I started picking up English students, studied Japanese hard, made lots of friends who were nearly all of the women variety, and learned a bit about emotions, especially when my mother and father died. I moved back to America a couple of months before my dad died, and then stayed around a year, and when i worked at a translation company, was, for the 1st time that i can remember, praised effusively for my work. Even tho i had been a “missionary”, it was hard to distinguish me from the world with my choice of music, and watching movies. During this time tho, slowly, the Lord was leading me to better things, and both the bad music and movie love was cut during this time. Spending 4 months in India really opened my eyes to how Christ and Satan are battling it out in this world, showing me many important things about how this world really works from God’s point of view, instead of man’s. Loving Japan, i moved back and had one of the biggest experiences of my life – working for the SDA church, and getting “parted” when i brought homeless people to church.

spreading God’s wordsspreading God’s words
My time in Japan was very nice, and i continued to teach English, getting up to around 60 students. My life became increasingly oriented around the 1858 edition of The Great Controversy Between Christ and His Angels, and Satan and His Angels, by Ellen White. This book woke me up more than any other to the realities of what is really happening from God’s point of view. Spending 2 years in on-n-off translation, i finally completed the Japanese version, and printed 5,000 copies. This would become the start of my life-work, spreading this book in the various languages. After leaving Japan, i travelled for 5 years, with nearly 1/2 that time spent in Thailand and India. It was hard travelling — In 2009, i spent the nite in 41 different beds, 10 nites on a bus, 4 nites on an airplane, 1 nite on a train, and even paid for 1 nite in a dormitory in Istanbul. When people hear i’ve been to around 35 countries, they usually say: “You’re rich, so you can do that”. But when i tell them the facts that i only spent a little over 6,000usd all year, and around 1,500 of that was to print the Romanian 1858gc book, they nearly always stay quiet… Looking back, i think how risky it was to just jump off, and also how audacious it was to think that others would be interested in helping spread this book too. But God’s ways are very mysterious, and he did provide people to help push this book forward. By God’s amazing providence, the book is in 27 languages now, with 3 more in the pipeline. While in Thailand, i had the fortunate opportunity to be a daytime “father/teacher” to a little girl. It was a precious experience, which taught me much about the love, patience, and forgiving heart of God, and also how much he loves it when we are humble, honest, simple, and quick to obey. Probably never getting married or having kids of my own, i believe God moved on my friends’ hearts to allow me that opportunity to get to understand God better 🙂

What does the future hold? I don’t know. Lord willing, i want to earn some money for a few years to help out others in the world who are spreading the inspired words of God in the 1858gc book, and then start or help with a Bible school probably in SE Asia, but trust God that he will do the best for me that i need, especially trials and tribulations to make me focus on him.

I love you Jesus. You’re everything i need, and the only thing i have. Jesus, please forgive me for all the pain and suffering i’ve caused you. I’ve strayed so many times. Yes, the outward appearances may look righteous, but you know my heart. All the evil that has found its way in, please purge it, and make me clean, whiter than snow. May my words and actions and thots all be focused on you, so your Holy Spirit can abide in me, and i in you, and we can be one.

SDA general conference president Ted Wilson’s video links

edited 2015/6/12, edited 2021/3/14 to remove dead links
I’ve been praising God for a strong leader appearing to lead his remnant people since his election last General Conference Session in Atlanta, 2010. For over 30 years, the largest part of my lifetime, God’s flock has been led by shepherds who frankly, seem to have been like “men pleasers” more than “God servers”. Finally that part of church history is behind us forever (i hope), and now we must move forward, as it is late in the day, and Jesus’ coming is very soon.

So in what way can i help lift up my leader’s arms, like Aaron and Hur did for the leader in their day? One of the ways is to make his talks more easily accessible, which is why i’m trying to pull together all the links to his videos available on the internet. Please note that while i’m trying to uplift his arms (message), i’m not trying to uplift him as somehow “inspired” or anything like that. In fact, recently i wrote him asking for him to publicly repent for the Seventh-day Adventist church’s great sin in allowing abortions, but just got a standard “leave it to the woman” response. May we stand as strong for the 6th commandment, as we do for the 4th.

If anyone has other videos of Ted Wilson they know of, i kindly request a link to them in the comments section 🙂

“mother earth” god set to get 10 commandments

UN document would give ‘Mother Earth’ same rights as humans

kill a mosquito, get death?

Bolivia’s president has already signed into law in his country this action for a false god, and is set to foist it upon the whole world.

In a 2008 pamphlet his entourage distributed at the UN as he attended a summit there, 10 “commandments” are set out as Bolivia’s plan to “save the planet” — beginning with the need “to end capitalism.”

Reflecting indigenous traditional beliefs, the proposed global treaty says humans have caused “severe destruction . . . that is offensive to the many faiths, wisdom traditions and indigenous cultures for whom Mother Earth is sacred.”

It also says that “Mother Earth has the right to exist, to persist and to continue the vital cycles, structures, functions and processes that sustain all human beings.”

In indigenous Andean culture, the Earth deity known as Pachamama is the centre of all life, and humans are considered equal to all other entities.

No doubt we will see more strangeness before Jesus returns, as all the peoples of the earth line up against him and the outworkings of his grace and justice.

lovely sakura in japan

close up of cherry blossoms most beautiful cherry blossoms
The last week of March and first week of April is cherry-blossom season in Japan. This is the highlight of all things in nature for the Japanese people, and i’ve told many foreigners who live here in Japan, that if they really want to understand the Japanese psyche, they need to study all things related to the cherry blossoms. To make it very simple, and i was re-instructed in this today, the idea of having an incredible moment of glory, short, sweet, and then, fall to the ground. There are many samurai movies showing the ablest young men spilling their guts literally in “seppuku” for their leader. That is seen as the height of something i can’t quite define in Japan – maybe beauty, maybe loyalty, and in all, showing the etherealness of life.

These pics i took yesterday and today. If anyone wants to come and visit Japan at the most beautiful time of the year, please let me know! Also, if you want any of these pics bigger for a background or something, just leave a comment and i’ll try to put it up on the net somewhere, or email it to you 🙂

first ever depiction of Jesus?

An archaeological find in Jordan of 70 lead codices from possibly the 2nd century AD has many wondering if the figure depicted on one of the codices is perhaps the first one ever of Jesus Christ by his followers.

The tiny booklet, a little smaller than a modern credit card, is sealed on all sides and has a three-dimensional representation of a human head on both the front and the back. One appears to have a beard and the other is without. Even the maker’s fingerprint can be seen in the lead impression. Beneath both figures is a line of as-yet undeciphered text in an ancient Hebrew script.

Astonishingly, one of the booklets appears to bear the words ‘Saviour of Israel’ – one of the few phrases so far translated.

The owner of the cache is Bedouin trucker Hassan Saida who lives in the Arab village of Umm al-Ghanim, Shibli. He has refused to sell the booklets but two samples were sent to England and Switzerland for testing.

seoul delight

From the 24th to the 29th i was in Seoul, Korea. The new Japanese church in Yongsan-gu were extremely hospitable hosts, letting me stay there, making sure i had enough to eat, taking me to see other Seventh-day Adventist institutions and to the public sauna/baths, and even letting me give the sermon/1858 Great Controversy study in the church on Sabbath with around 15 in attendance. This was truly amazing. Being in Japan for 15 years, i’ve only been asked once before to give a sermon. And here, with a pastor i’ve never met before, he trusts me to feed his very youthful flock without even having ever met me! Amazing.

The pastor had told me in a email that he wanted me to give a testimony, so i was expecting 10 minutes or so during the Sabbath School time. But when i arrived, he said i was the main speaker! When i told him i’d like to study chapter 32 of the 1858gc with everyone, he said i could do my testimony and then the study, which we did after putting all the chairs in a circle. I guess there were around 15 present. I think 3 or 4 of the people are not SDA and maybe not even Christian yet. Even tho over half of the people were Korean, they were typical Japanese style with keeping quiet most of the time. After the study one couple seemed deeply affected, and asked a few questions. It was a great experience for me to be able to carry out a study in Japanese. One nice thing was, there was no spirit of doubt in the writings of Ellen White, and there was no put-down of myself either, both things that are quite common in my travels. I gave everyone a book, and pray that the Holy Spirit will work on hearts now. Around 1/2 of the people stayed all afternoon, and we had a little sundown-worship too. The pastor told me there are quite a few young pastors in the Japan Conference who are very dedicated, and waiting for opportunities to help lead the starving sheep into green pastures. May God hear their earnest cries, and incline his ears to my heartfelt prayers that something be done to awaken the sleeping church in Japan.
yongsan-japanese-church.com

The pastor said that he read that Japanese were 30 times more likely to become Christians while outside of Japan, rather than in their own country. I can believe it, because i’ve heard of quite a few cases like that myself. He said even a Japanese ambassador’s wife was baptized into the SDA church last year! But really, one of the best ways to evangelize the Japanese, may be to approach them when they are not in their comfortable “cocoon” of this island nation. Then again, maybe a certain nuclear reactor will drive them out of their cocoon soon!!

Thanks for everyone’s prayers to come back into Japan. I was forced for the first time to buy a ticket back to Korea before i could leave Seoul. But Asiana airline refunded all except around 35usd after i arrived in Osaka, so not too bad. The immigration officer didn’t say anything, but again, that may have been because i did have that ticket carrying me back out of Japan, something they like to see.

I really have to get a visa soon. More and more it is on my heart and hands that i need to WORK for my own health’s sake, and especially to help spread God’s words in the various countries. Please pray that if it is the Lord’s will i stay here in Japan, that the Lord will open the way. I just want to follow where he is leading 🙂 Thank you Jesus for this wonderful experience in Seoul, and i pray that the Yongsan Japanese Church will grow brighter and brighter in leading many to Jesus there.

heaven

We need to contemplate heaven more. Signs of the Times 1888-02-03:

My mind is carried up through nature to nature’s God, and I adore him who has created such scenes of beauty; but I know that if I love God and keep his commandments there is “a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” awaiting me in the kingdom of Heaven. Beautiful as are the landscapes of earth, “eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” God designs that we should contemplate heavenly things, and that we should dwell upon the attributes of his character, till we see matchless charms in our God, and become changed into the same image. When we are renewed in the spirit of our minds, we shall have no disposition to murmur at our lot; the praise of God will be welling up in our hearts continually. The solemn responsibilities that God has laid upon us for the salvation of souls will absorb our whole heart and mind, and we shall have no time to talk of our trials and sacrifices. Oh! we must wash our robes of character from every stain, in the blood of the Lamb, and prepare for the great day of God. We must not wait till the Lord comes in the clouds of heaven before we make our calling and election sure.

This child prodigy is painting what she says are scenes from where God has showed her heaven. So beautiful. The comment she makes about heaven having hundreds of millions of more colors than we have here on earth is quite amazing to think about! Akiane paints heaven

swim in the ocean of love

While searching the Spirit of Prophecy for quotes on how we need to contemplate the loveliness of Jesus, i came across this gem. Some of the main points that stand out to me, are how the idea of love is inextricably linked with rebuke for those who are erring, how we need to really love each other, and how we should NOT be having communion service with those not of our peculiar faith (Ms. 14, 1850):

A vision the Lord gave me at Sutton, Vermont, September, 1850. I saw the loveliness of Jesus and the love that the angels have for one another. Said the angel, Can ye not behold their love? Follow it. Just so God’s people must love one another. Rather let blame fall on thyself than on a brother. I was then pointed back to western New York and saw that Brother Bates did not give the message.–“Sell that ye have and give alms”–in its clear light.

I saw that Brother Bates erred again in praying for the sick before unbelievers. I saw if any among us were sick and called for the elders of the church to pray over them, we should follow the example of Jesus. He went into an inner chamber, and we should go into a room by ourselves separate entirely from unbelievers, and then the atmosphere would not be polluted by them. By faith we could take hold on God and draw down the blessing. I saw that God’s cause was dishonored and reproached in western New York at the general conference by praying for the sick in the midst of unbelievers. I also saw that Brother Bates erred in attending the washing of saints’ feet and the communion among unbelievers. It only caused reproach to come on the cause of God. I saw that the example of Jesus should be followed. He took His disciples away alone, separate from the wicked, and first washed their feet, and then gave them to eat of the broken bread to represent His broken body and gave them to drink of the juice of the vine to represent His spilled blood.

Then I saw Brother Bates. Said the angel, Be not quick to receive error, nor too slow to receive the truth. I saw that the women of Revelation 18:4 meant the churches and that we were bid to “come out of her” that we be not defiled, partake of her sins, and receive of her plagues. I saw that Brother Bates had not applied Revelation 18:4 correctly, and his error had caused confusion.

Then I saw James and Brother Bates. Said the angel, “Press together, press together, press together, press together, ye shepherds, lest the sheep be scattered. Love one another as I have loved you. Swim, swim, swim, plunge deep, deep, deep in the ocean of God’s love. Come into a nearness with God.” I saw that we must overcome perfectly and get the victory over the powers of darkness.

personal web page back on net

I had a free hosting service with a place called “Pro Hosting” for many years. It was my first foray into the wild world web, waaaay back in the 20th century 😉 But after i found WordPress, i stopped updating it, and then a couple of years ago they quit allowing me to do anything with it. I just let it go until recently, as i see now that they have taken my site down from the web, i decided that all that juicy info about my life, along with some really cool pics (who is he kidding?) should not be kept from the public at large, so put it up again today on this domain.

The main spiritual thing i wanted to make sure and not lose, is the comparison of the first chapter of the 1858 Great Controversy, with the corresponding part in Early Writings. 1858 Great Controversy – Early Writings comparison

As for the diary stuff, reading again about what i felt in my first trip to India, and the emotions in helping my homeless friends etc., helps give me a renewed sense of definition to my little, mostly fruitless life. May God forgive me, and use me in the future to advance his kingdom.

Jesus reveals himself to another Muslim

Kamal Saleem, a former Islamic jihadist, finds Jesus Christ, and now energetically calls on Muslims to worship the true God. Kamal Saleem – Christian

This Youtube movie shows the eery similarities between Nazi Germany and today’s Muslim world: Muslim-Nazi similarities

May we be awake to show Jesus to all those we come in contact with, and not be shy or embarrassed to show the true God – Jesus Christ, especially to the Muslims.

remember Shinkawa’s wife

Amid the incredible catastrophe of the tsunami in Japan, this story sends a powerful message:

A 60-year-old man has been found on the roof of his floating house nearly 10 miles out at sea, two days after the tsunami that devastated the north-east coast of Japan.

Hiromitsu Shinkawa must have resigned himself to his fate when he was swept away by the retreating tsunami that roared ashore in his home town of Minami Soma in Fukushima prefecture.

As the wave approached, Shinkawa took the fateful decision to return home to collect belongings. Minutes later he was out at sea clinging to a piece of the roof from his own home.

Incredibly, he was spotted by a maritime self-defence force destroyer taking part in the rescue effort as he clung to the wreckage with one hand and waved a self-made red flag with the other. He had been at sea for two days.

Reports said that on being handed a drink aboard the rescue boat, Shinkawa gulped it down and immediately burst into tears. His wife, with whom he had returned home as the tsunami approached, is still missing.
