America is facing a presidential election again. While God’s children are not to get involved in political parties, we are to be involved with using our God-given right to vote for the person who will uphold the morals as given by God in the best manner.
The idea of taking from the rich by force to give to the poor is not biblical. This is what all recent president’s have been for (as obviously it helps provide votes), but President Obama has carried this to extremes, with a record 46,000,000 Americans on food stamps today! Not only is it wrong to take from the rich to give to the poor, but in fact, America is more and more borrowing from other countries to satisy our own greed to have the good life now, and pass the future cost to the next generation. It is clearly unsustainable, with over 1,000,000,000,000usd of new debt added each year under the current president. We need someone who will at least attempt to staunch the tide of red ink before America has to go around begging our creditors to have patience with us as we cannot pay them back.
There are several other points of difference between the 2 main candidates, but the most important issue for me is what each candidate will do to support the lives of the most helpless – what will they do on the subject of abortion. In this issue, there is a huge difference. President Obama said before he became president that the first law he would pass would be a bill allowing more late-term abortions. He did pass that bill, and has consistently shown to be heartless when it comes to saving any unborn baby. Candidate Romney has had a journey in his life, it seems, on this issue. At first glance, it looks like he is a flip-flopper, because when he was governor of Massachusetts he was definitely for killing the unborn, while now is strongly for protecting them. In reading about his life tho, he was for abortion because a relative died from a botched abortion, but recently he has seen how terrible it is to kill a helpless baby inside its own mother, and has “converted” to protecting the unborn. A short comparison of the 2 main candidate’s views on abortion can be seen here: http://www.nrlc.org/Records/potuscomparison.pdf
The difference is stark. One candidate is for destroying little babies, while the other is for protecting them. God’s word is very clear on what he thinks about human life whether inside the mother’s womb or out of it: Ps 22:10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou [art] my God from my mother’s belly.
So while it is extremely disappointing to see the acknowledged “main” Christian nation on earth having a choice for a leader who is Mormon or basically Muslim, there is still a clear choice to make in deciding who will be closer to following God’s moral commands.
May we pray and make the right decision, and ask God to heal our country.
Jeremiah 32:33 And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching [them], yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.
