The following are all quotes I read in the above periodicals of Ellen White. They are in backwards order here, with Present Truth on the bottom, Sabbath School Worker in the middle, and The Southern Watchman on top. They are either unusual statements, very deep statements, very famous statements, statements that go contrary to commonly-held SDA beliefs today, or just things that seemed interesting to me. The most interesting to me here is the one about the Bible writers didn’t even understand sometimes what they were writing, as it was the Holy Spirit’s words.

The Southern Watchman
Under the New Testament no less is required than was required under the Old Testament. Let no one take up with the delusion, so pleasant to the human heart, that God will accept of sincerity, no matter what may be the faith or how imperfect the life. Some time ago, when we were passing through Oswego, N.Y., we saw two stern officers guarding two men who were chained together and carried in their hands large leaden balls. We were trying to live in harmony with all the laws of the state of New York and with the law of God, and we were walking at liberty; we were not under the bondage of the law. If we live in harmony with the life of Christ, and with the law of which his life was a living example, we are not, we cannot be, under the bondage of the law. SW December 4, 1906

Sabbath School Worker
In the word of God everything is made plain in proportion as it is of vital importance. SSW April 1, 1893
The Lord has never explained to humanity how the soul is impressed by the Spirit of God, affecting the mind and heart of the believer, or how the Spirit puts words into the mouth of the Lord’s messengers to give to his people. The prophets, who were especially enlightened by the Spirit of God, often could not understand the meaning of the words they wrote upon the paper, or explain the significance of what they uttered when the Spirit caused them to speak, SSW August 1, 1892
Why should not the Seventh-day Adventist and Seventh-day Baptist harmonize? Why not co-operate? Why not unite in the work and become one without compromising any principle of truth, and without damage to any interest worth preserving? Both are in defense of the law of God SSW October 1, 1886
The Present Truth
Many are in darkness, and know not the cause. They are not at peace with God, they are not one with Christ, nor in unity with one another. They seem to think they are at liberty to act out the natural feelings of the heart. Words and actions testify that they do not desire to be in union with those who do not exactly meet their minds, even among believers.
