seventh-day adventists and women’s ordination video

Put up new video on YouTube today: http://youtu.be/4tLlMZ9f5ws

This video is to call on my fellow Seventh-day Adventists to follow the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy regarding the roles of men and women.

The immediate issue at hand is whether or not women should be ordained as pastors in the SDA church. As the details can be readily found on the web, i’ll just say that those supporting this, like most others that directly go against God’s word, are from the “rich” countries.

Now our General Conference leaders know what the Bible says about this, but to be politically correct they have avoided taking a stand on this issue so long that it has festered into an open sore where one Union, and probably more soon, are openly rebelling against their authority.

But what does God’s word say about this? Genesis 3:16 To the woman He said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire [shall be] for your husband, And he shall rule over you.”

So one of the first things God establishes after sin enters the world is the relationship between men and women. 17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed [is] the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat [of] it all the days of your life.

But those who reject God’s words want men and women to be equal. Well, if they can roll back God’s words about men having rule over women, then may they also try their best to remove the curse from the ground so we don’t have to sweat for our food anymore, and not return to dust either.

There are no examples given in the Old Testament of women being made a priest, just as there are no examples in the New Testament of women being made an apostle or elder in the church.

One of the SDA church founders was a woman, so what about her standing up in front of people and giving sermons? 1Cor 11:5 But any woman who prays or prophesies…. This makes it clear that women can pray and prophesy, but it gives no license for all women to get up and teach men.

One of the most beautiful examples Jesus has left us of his tender regard for the church is in comparing the relationship of a bridegroom and bride. Ephesians 5:22-30 gives a graphic picture of this:

Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord [does] the church. For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.

Christ is the bridegroom, and we are the bride. Would it be a proper thing for his bride to start teaching him? When we say we are more “enlightened” than God, so now we will have women rule over us, aren’t we in fact lessening the authority and respect due our lovely Saviour – Jesus Christ?

Sad to say, we Seventh-day Adventists want to be just like the world as much as possible, so we elect women to be leaders over us. It is not surprising when those women leaders want to have the same authority for all women as men currently have.

My heart is for Pr. Wilson fully on this matter, but i don’t see how God is going to work much for this church while Pr. Wilson specifically allows SDA institutions to continue killing unborn babies. That is much more of an important issue than women’s ordination. By not standing up for the most helpless, i don’t believe God will work to keep the unity of the church.

This action to allow ordaining women is rebellion against God – pure and simple. And this will lead to more rebellion in the future.

Spiritual Gifts Vol.4: The facts relative to Korah and his company, who rebelled against Moses and Aaron, and against Jehovah, are recorded for a warning to God’s people, especially those who live upon the earth near the close of time. Satan has led persons to imitate the example of Korah, Dathan and Abiram, in raising insurrection among the people of God.

May those who are pushing for women’s ordination repent, and may our church leaders stop compromising in any area, and resolve to be an obedient bride, preparing for her bridegroom.

  1. Mrs Ellen White was never ordained as a pastor, I pra for my fellow believers that they should vote for such a thing, those who voted they r nt part of the remnant they preach a different Jesus we preach may the true remnant go out of that church ipray, Jesus is quickly coming

  2. “but it gives no license for all women to get up and teach men.” Does this mean you do not want to see women teaching in church at all e.g. the Sabbath School lesson?

  3. Hello Shireen,
The Old Testament has no examples of women teaching men (other than prophetesses as noted). Neither does the New Testament.
    .
1Timothy 2:12-14 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
    .
So, to follow the Bible, women should not be teaching men in the church.
