lovely sakura in japan

The last week of March and first week of April is cherry-blossom season in Japan. This is the highlight of all things in nature for the Japanese people, and i’ve told many foreigners who live here in Japan, that if they really want to understand the Japanese psyche, they need to study all things related to the cherry blossoms. To make it very simple, and i was re-instructed in this today, the idea of having an incredible moment of glory, short, sweet, and then, fall to the ground. There are many samurai movies showing the ablest young men spilling their guts literally in “seppuku” for their leader. That is seen as the height of something i can’t quite define in Japan – maybe beauty, maybe loyalty, and in all, showing the etherealness of life.

These pics i took yesterday and today. If anyone wants to come and visit Japan at the most beautiful time of the year, please let me know! Also, if you want any of these pics bigger for a background or something, just leave a comment and i’ll try to put it up on the net somewhere, or email it to you 🙂
