HB!) that used to be my biggest fan, but the ones that go round and round.\n\nAs i type this, there is a large fan slicing the air with its three blades above my head.\u00a0 No matter where i go in this room, the circulating air has beaten me there.\u00a0 With no variable-adjustable settings, you have to be content with the 5 that the factory designed into the fan.\u00a0 Keeping it on \"1\" is still too fast for the eye to keep up with, and definitely covers my sleeping body at nite with more sliced air than i would wish.\n\nWhat to do?\n\nNow it is true that most people would probably not bother with this old contrivance, but would instead happily turn on the air-con to beat the 29-30degree heat.\u00a0 But i sleep best around 27-28degrees, and despise air-con unless i've laid on a rock in the hot sun long enough to sweat a drop.\n\nIn Thailand most places have side-to-side swinging fans.\u00a0 Actually it probably imitates nature better with a here-now gone-now type of wind, but when the temperature gets above around 32 in the room, it only succeeds in pushing the hot air from one side to the other.\u00a0 The overhead is much more effective in slicing and pushing it all to the floor.\n\nHere in Malaysia the large overhead fan is omnipresent.\u00a0 So Malaysia, while feeling cooler anyway than Thailand (at least Bangkok and \"inland\" areas), also has better cooling systems.\u00a0 Got to watch your head tho.\u00a0 I still remember the story of the Japanese lady who stood up on her top bunk bed and wound up in the hospital!\n\nThank the mosquitoes for solving my problem for me.\u00a0 By turning the fan up to \"2\" i've solved the problem of the biting monsters, and also have been forced to hide completely under my large towel sheet.\u00a0 That is too hot and stuffy at \"1\", but acceptable at \"2\".\u00a0 As a bonus, i can't hear grandma waking up at 3:30 (?!) to bang around in the kitchen or hack up her lungs, so can sleep with only 3 or 4 interruptions at nite instead of the up-to-now average of 7 or 8 times :)\n<\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"site-sidebar-layout":"","site-content-layout":"","ast-main-header-display":"","ast-hfb-above-header-display":"","ast-hfb-below-header-display":"","ast-hfb-mobile-header-display":"","site-post-title":"","ast-breadcrumbs-content":"","ast-featured-img":"","footer-sml-layout":"","theme-transparent-header-meta":"","adv-header-id-meta":"","stick-header-meta":"","header-above-stick-meta":"","header-main-stick-meta":"","header-below-stick-meta":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-127","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-daily-rambliniscings"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.9 -
