Mass shooting rates in America are lower than in many countries

Another Liberal canard has been bitten by the big, bad bug of hard data. We hear often on the news about how bad America is with guns, and if we would just give up our guns, the world would be a dreamy, peaceful place (I don’t have a gun myself). One of their scariest talking points, is all the mass shootings we have in America. Of course, even one murder from any source is terrible, but we don’t often hear the facts of the case, like that more people were killed by bare hands last year in America than by rifles.

Now a research paper by John R. Lott titled: “Comparing the Global Rate of Mass Public Shootings to the U.S.’s Rate and Comparing Their Changes Over Time” blows away the media myths regarding this subject, and shows that many other countries have higher rates of mass shootings than in America.

  1. Sorry for the typos. Wanted to delete my comment to re-do, but don’t see a deleting option.

Hi Daniel, I apologize if this is the wrong place to leave this comment. I will understand if it is deleted. Just wanted to mention that it would be interesting sometime to hear your views on the matter of the world ending when Satan’s 6,000 year reign of sin is finished. I don’t think it is permitted to leave links in comments here because last week I tried and the comment disappeared.

I first became interested in this topic when Pastor Andrew Henriques indicated the possibility that this Ellen White statement maybe could mean the world would end close to the year 2031. “ ‘In the midst of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease.’ In A.D. 31, three and a half years after His baptism, our Lord was crucified. With the great sacrifice offered upon Calvary, ended that system of offerings which for four thousand years had pointed forward to the Lamb of God. Type had met antitype, and all the sacrifices and oblations of the ceremonial system were there to cease.” GC 327.

Then I saw a video by Professor Walter Veith that indicated, maybe the year of Christ’s coming could be closer to 2027, or even well before, if Satan’s reign when loosed for a short season at the end of the Millennium is included. That Veith video title on YouTube is, “Sermon about 6,000 years – Prof. Walter Veith”

Thank you, Daniel. Just thought I’d ask to see if you’d be interested is sharing any thoughts on this topic. It occurred to me, if we really believed our Lord and Savior was returning before 2027, seems there would be revival similar to before 1844.

  2. One more Daniel, I see that Doug Batchelor has a sermon on this topic as well; on YouTube, “6,000 years – Doug Batchelor”

    Thank you, Daniel.

  3. Appreciate your comments, Zack.
I was not aware of the new video by Pr. Doug Batchelor on the 6,000 years. I’ll take a look soon.
I was first made aware that some were saying that Jesus had to come back by 2031 because of that statement in the Great Controversy, by Pr. David Gates. I commented to his Youtube video where he expounded on that, by showing that Ellen White makes it very clear that we are never to state any date in the future for when some prophetic event is supposed to happen. So this talk about 2031 or 2027 is against what she wrote.
Also, I have read extensively in Ellen White’s writings, and have found that she sometimes speaks in generalities. Obviously, she is speaking in this quote from the Great Controversy about a general 4,000 years, and not any definite 4,000 years.

On my Youtube channel I have a video of Doug Batchelor from several years back, where he is talking about how the 1260, 1290, and 1335 might be literal days in the future. I believe that is exactly correct. Notice that doesn’t mean he is setting a date for something to happen, but that we will have “waymarks” to know where we are when the final 3 1/2 period clock starts ticking again, and there is “delay no longer” as it is put in Revelation.

Thank you again for your comment!

  4. Thank you for your reply, Daniel. Very interesting. I will watch the video you mention. The other day I enjoyed watching a couple videos on your channel. Thought I should mention that in his video on 2027, Pastor Veith bent over backwards to explain that he wasn’t time setting. He mentioned that no one knows how long the time would be when Satan was loosed for a little season after the Millennium, whether 1, 2, 3, or 4 years, thus no one would know the time, whether 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023 or ? Thank you again, always a pleasure!
