Day of Atonement October 23, 2015

Many people are saying many “convergences” are going to happen around the middle to end of September this year. They are:
1. The pope will make a historic first-ever address to both houses of the US government
2. The pope will also talk at a family day in Philadelphia, and then at a UN meeting to implement goals to reduce poverty etc. He is supposed to release an encyclical too around this time frame.
3. The supposed Day of Atonement is September 23, but that date is mistaken.
4. The Shemitah, or 7 year cycle, is supposed to fall this September (but actually it will be in October). Every 7 years the markets go crazy – 1987 with the largest single drop ever in DJIA history, some bond market fall in 1994, of course 9/11 in 2001, and the Lehman shock in 2008. Some say it has to do with the Shemitah when God wants the land to rest every 7 years.
5. The Large Hadron Collider (CERN) in Europe is set to ramp up in September. Even some non-christian scientists say the “gates of hell” could be opened. I don’t believe that our machines can release demons on the earth, but who knows.
6. A high-level French official said not long ago that we have 500 days to avoid climate catastrophe. That ends too in this time frame.
7. Isaac Newton predicted something to happen in this time frame.
8. Supposedly the stars are aligned as mentioned in Revelation 12.
etc. etc.

No, I’m not agreeing with all of these. I do agree strongly that the pope being invited to address the US House and Senate is a very significant event fulfilling prophecy. Will there be natural or manmade disasters or financial calamaties happen in this time frame too? I don’t know.

Certainly it is a good time to be aware tho.

Here is a video I made on the subject:

HOWEVER, the date of the Day of Atonement this year is October 23. No Seventh-day Adventist should ever fall for the idea that it is in September this year. We know that October 22, 1844 was the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) for that year, as that is the exact day that the 2300 day prophecy finished, and Jesus stepped into the Most Holy Place to start working there. To arrive at that date, you MUST start the new year with the first new moon (whether conjunction or sliver is a different matter) AFTER the Spring Equinox. There is no way the currently accepted method among most Hebrew Roots people and Statute keeping SDAs of starting the new year with the first FULL MOON after the Spring Equinox could possibly arrive at a date of October 22.

So let’s keep our eyes and ears open to the signs of the times, and while not falling for every conspiracy theory, let’s be aware of what is happening, and not let our guard down when the things don’t happen on the exact days in September as many are looking for. (BTW, God may do some things on the days these people are looking for anyway, to keep them on their toes).

“Celebration” is pope’s new buzzword for Sunday worship

The Pope is traveling to the United States in September, 2015, and he is going to be doing several things, one of which is perhaps fulfilling biblical prophecy:
1. He will be the first pope to ever officially address the U.S. Congress
2. He will talk at a World Family Day event in Philadelphia
3. He will talk at the U.N.

Doug Batchelor of Amazing Facts has made a 9 minute video explaining how the pope’s recent radio broadcast shows that the pope will be calling for Sunday “celebration” when he talks in America. Of course those who are knowledgeable about Bible prophecy know that Sunday worship will be promoted by Babylon at the end time, and the 144,000 will worship God on his holy 7th-day Sabbath.

May we give the trumpet a certain sound!

Seventh-day Adventists should vote

My mother used to tell me that voting was wrong, as we partake of the sins of those whom we vote for. I tended to believe her, until I studied it out for myself. It is clear from Ellen White’s writings that we are to vote. Specifically, we are to vote to uplift the morals of society, and not to vote for party politics.

Here is a short quote from Ellen White’s diary of 1859 regarding the question of voting:

[Battle Creek,] Sunday, March 6, 1859
Had an interview with Martha Byington. Cut out a dress. We were perplexed; took it all to pieces and made it over. Spent the afternoon with [Mary] Loughborough; attended meeting in the eve. Had quite a free, interesting meeting. After it was time to close, the subject of voting was considered and dwelt upon. James first talked, then Brother Andrews talked and it was thought by them best to give their influence in favor of right and against wrong. They think it right to vote in favor of temperance men being in office in our city, instead of—by their silence—running the risk of having men of non-temperance put in office. Brother Hewitt told his experience of a few days, and is settled that it is right to cast his vote. Brother Hart talked well.

Brother Lyon opposed. No other objected to voting, but Brother Kellogg begins to feel that it is right. Pleasant feelings exist among all the brethren. Oh, that they may all act in the fear of God. Men of intemperance have been in the office today, in a flattering manner expressing their approbation of the course of Sabbathkeepers in not voting, and expressing hope that they will stick to their course and, like the Quakers, not cast their vote. Satan and his evil angels are busy at this time and he has a work upon the earth. May Satan be disappointed, is my prayer.

[Battle Creek,] Monday, March 7, 1859
It is rainy today. It looks very gloomy without, but if the Sun of righteousness shines in my heart all is well and no outward appearance and gloom can make me sad. Today the votes are cast for town officers.

Let’s disappoint Satan, and use our influence in favor of right like liberty and freedom, and against wrongs like abortion and same-sex marriage.

Ellen White previously unreleased manuscripts 1845-1856

The Ellen G. White Estate is entrusted with handling the written works of Ellen White, who I, and most Seventh-day Adventists, believe was a prophetess of the Lord. As she was one of the 3 co-founders of the SDA church, her writings reveal a lot of history and give insights to how the early church developed.

Quite a large portion of her writings were not published in her day. Even after her death in 1915, many years passed with only a few compilations being produced, but not anywhere near the entire works. Some reasons I’ve heard for the reluctance of the Estate to release all her works is that some of the material is of a very personal nature – pointing out direct sins in a certain individual, and that some of it was more specific for her day. So a lot of the published material up to this point will, for example, talk about a “Mr. M” or “Br. R” when really she is talking about Mr. Canright, or Dr. Kellogg etc. This desire to protect the identities of people involved has unfortunately given rise to conspiracy theories, and has caused some to attack the motives of Ellen White herself. I’ve personally found several areas where what she wrote rebuking leaders such as Uriah Smith in parts of the 30+ Testimonies for the Church Series were removed when edited down into the familiar 9-volume “Testimonies to the Church” set we usually see today.

Some layman groups started to take matters into their own hands, and in the late 1960s Leaves of Autumn started printing many of the collections of manuscripts such as “Series A” and “Series B” and I think some others like the “Paulson Collection” and “Kress Collection” and Southerland & Magan Collection” etc. Then in the 1980s, the call for her works to be put in digital format became strong, and I remember personally purchasing her works on laser disc in 1988. Not too long after the well-known CD of her writings came out.

Many purchasers of the CD were under the impression that all her writings were on it, but deep students were surprised to see that was not so. Somewhere around 2008 or so, some people going by the moniker “SDAnonymous” threatened to sue the E.G. White Estate unless they came forth with all the material. While I do not agree with threatening a lawsuit, the upshot of the action was that the Estate did agree to come out with all the material.

In 2015, just before the GC Session in San Antonio, the Estate said they released all the remaining material. They provided a link to it on the internet, but the link just took me to the page where you can do a search on all her material – i.e.; It is impossible to get a handle on what was newly released, as it was all mixed up with everything else.

But the SDAnonymous group sent me the new releases separately by email, and yesterday I read thru the 125 pages of the first batch (1845-1856). Below are quotes that interested me. Most of these have never been published before, but a few have, as these newly-released materials are sometimes just portions of manuscripts that were edited before being released in the past. Some of the following were accounts written by others taking dictation of what she had said in vision.

I saw that the nations had not power to hold themselves. I also saw that we were not to cry to God to hold the four winds, nor to the nations, but one angel was to cry to other angels equal in power, to hold until the servants of God were sealed in their foreheads.
