1888 Materials video

I try to read as much inspired writings as I can, and the older I get, the more I want to only read inspired writings. Having read a lot about the 1888 Message over the years, I dived into the 1888 Materials in 2008. I finally finished reading all 4820 paragraphs around the end of 2013.

What did I glean from this 5-year project (admittedly with many starts and stops along the way)? Mostly, that the biggest problem wasn’t doctrinal at all, but the haughty attitude of the leaders (represented mostly by Butler and Smith), and how they treated the young ministers with a different view (mostly Jones & Waggoner). The leaders also put down Ellen White every chance they could, as she basically supported Jones and Waggoner in their presentation of the Righteousness of Christ.

One very interesting take on reading the 1888 Materials, is that it seems that God was leading the Seventh-day Adventist Church to accept all the statutes and judgments, instead of only picking out the unclean meats, sexual perversions, and tithe statutes, but that the Church, by rejecting the message of Righteousness of Christ, was not given added light to help them come up a rung on the ladder closer to Jesus by following what he did while he walked this earth as a human.

This video covers what I consider to be the main points in the 1888 debate, and also highlights quotes that I saw as very important, or else very unusual and interesting. The completed video will be around an hour and a half long, so will be broken out into 3 parts. The first part is now available on youtube. Any comments, and especially “likes” on the video itself would be appreciated. May we uplift God’s messengers, even if they are younger than we are, and strive as much as possible to see eye to eye with the brethren.

spectrum magazine video

Today I put up a new video on youtube called “Spectrum Magazine banned”. It’s about how Spectrum, which is progressive/liberal magazine with a bent to tearing down basically everything Seventh-day Adventism stands for, is intolerant of views that don’t agree with their own. They do provide more details into stories that affect Seventh-day Adventists, and don’t just sugar-coat everything like the official SDA news sources always do, but their insistence on denigrating Ellen White and SDA doctrine is not the fruit of a holy spirit.

What is worse, is that many of their articles are even written by pastors and leaders and scholars in the SDA church itself!!

I pray those responsible for publishing Spectrum will repent, and turn back to the truth as it is in Jesus.
